CONTEMPO WILL bring Galway audiences on a musical trip to Bulgaria, performing works by Marin Goleminov and Dobrinka Tabakova at the next From Europe with Love concert.
The concert will be in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Tuesday November 5 from 1.10pm to 1.50pm. The guest speaker will be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Ireland, Gergana Karadjova.
ConTempo will perform Goleminov’s String Quartet No 3. Goleminov was one of the most important composers in Bulgaria, and his work drew on Bulgarian folk music. He studied in Paris and taught at the Conservatory in Sofia.
They will also perform Tabakova’s 'On A Bench In The Shade', which imitates the contour of human speech. Based in London, Tabakova has won many international prizes for her work. In 2017, she was appointed composer-in-residence with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
There will be a wine reception at the show. Admission is free, but early arrival is recommended.
