John Devoy's epic solo journey

Author to sign copies of new book at Charlie Byrne's

JOHN DEVOY, author of the acclaimed 'alternative' travel book, Quondam: Travels In A Once World, will be in Charlie Byrne's Bookshop to sign copies of the book on Friday November 8.

A self-published non-fiction work, it has been acclaimed in The Irish Times and The Examiner, been featured on RTÉ Nationwide, and praised by legendary Irish travel writer Dervla Murphy.

Quondam (meaning ‘former’ or ‘a period of time that has passed,’ ) is the first instalment of a planned trilogy. In 1985, Devoy set out on a two year solo odyssey from Cork to Cape Town, via Madagascar and ending in Zimbabwe – 33 countries, 33,000kms. Quondam recounts not only the inner rawness and surrealness of that experience, but the consequences of it as well.

Devoy worked in the Clinical Biochemistry Department at University Hospital Cork. He now runs an organic farm in Clonakilty. All are welcome to the event. See www.johndevoyauthor.com
