Mary Black plays the Town Hall Theatre

Singer returns to Galway following release of new orchestral album

MARY BLACK, one of Ireland's finest, and most loved, contemporary folk singers, recently released a new album, and next week she is coming to Galway to play the Town Hall Theatre.

October saw the release of Mary Black Orchestrated, with Mary performing 11 of her finest songs, including ‘No Frontiers’, 'Adam at the Window', ‘Summer Sent You’, and ‘Carolina Rua’, accompanied by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. The versions of the songs on the album were orchestrated and produced by Brian Byrne, who also conducts the orchestra.

Speaking about the album, Mary said: “I've picked songs that mean a lot to me, some well-known and other less known gems. I couldn't imagine how great they would turn out with Brian Byrne composing some stunning orchestral arrangements that have breathed new life into these songs. Hearing the RTE Orchestra perform them during recording in the NCH was truly moving for me."

Mary Black plays the Town Hall Theatre on Saturday November 9 at 8pm. Tickets are available from 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
