ADDICTED TO Applause, the new EP by Rory and The Island, will be launched this Saturday at a gig in The Loft at Seven, Bridge Street, at 9pm.
Addicted To Applause features four new studio tracks recorded in Donegal and at Abbey Road Studios, and seven live tracks recorded at gigs in New York, Germany, London, and Dublin. Band leader, Donegal singer-songwriter Rory Gallagher, said the inspiration for the EP came from wanting to capture the atmosphere and fun he had "in the past year travelling around the world playing music with Sean Magee on fiddle, after being trapped in the one town in Lanzarote for six nights a week for eleven years!"
Rory and The Island has been on the go since 2010, and in that time have enjoyed eight Top 20 songs on iTunes Ireland. Rory also wrote the music for Irish NABF Middleweight Champion Jason Quigley's debut pro fight in Las Vegas, 'MakeWay for the Fighting Irish' in 2014. As Hotpress said: "We are not sure what island Rory is residing on but it sounds like it is somewhere between The Aran islands and the Caribbean...really fantastic music."
For the show, Rory will be joined by Sean Magee on fiddle and harmonies. Support is from Galway singer-songwriter Thomas McPartland. Tickets are €10 via sevenbridgestreet.ie/tickets
