THIS YEAR has been a big one for Irish folk-pop band Moon Looks On, having played three shows at the Glastonbury festival and appearing at the 2000 Trees festival in Gloucestershire.
This weekend sees the band - Stephen Gormley (guitar/vocals ), Aisling Bridgeman (violin ), Jack Bird (drums ), Laura Ryder (keys/synths ), Eanna Harrison (bass ), Jack Hussey (guitars ), Matilda O Mahony (vocals ) - come to Galway to play Monroe's Live this Saturday at 8pm.
For Sligo born Stephen Gormley, returning to Galway is something of a return to 'ground zero'. "I started my musical career in Galway having lived there for 12 years," he said. The band was formed by Gormley in 2016, releasing its debut EP a few months later.
Their music fuses contemporary folk and soul, with touches of reggae, blues, funk, and pop. The band have featured on the Other Voices, and have played Electric Picnic, Sligo Live, The Westport Arts Festival, Knockanstockan, and the Ones To Watch Festival. Their latest single, Pray For Rain' is out now via Spotify.
