Divilly return a big boost for Kilkerrin-Clonberne

Kilkerrin/Clonberne booked their place in the Connacht Ladies Senior Club Championship final after a comfortable 4-9 to 2-4 win over Mayo champions Carnacon at the Connacht Centre of Excellence.

In a repeat of the 2018 and 2017 provincial finals between the clubs, Olivia Divilly was the guiding star for the reigning Connacht champions, scoring 0-5 in Kilkerrin/Clonberne’s 4-9 to 2-4 victory.

Divilly, an All-Star nominee, flew home specially for the final having spent recent weeks competing in an AFL trial in Australia, and along with goals from Annette Clarke, Lynsey Noone, Louise Ward and Ailish Morrissey, helped propel the Galway side to victory.

Cora Staunton was also a returnee for Carnacon - the Mayo side having claimed their 20th SFC title in-a-row last week,

After Divilly scored three early frees, Carnacon burst into life following Staunton’s introduction in the 15th minute. She set up Erina Flannery for a goal five minutes later and Carnacon went in front with Staunton’s first point.

The game swung back in Kilkerrin/Clonberne’s favour when Annette Clarke finished a goal and after that Carnacon never got back on terms.m When Lynsey Noone scored Galway's second goal, Kilkerrin/Clonberne took a 2-5 to 1-2 half-time lead.
