Aussie folk duo play Galway tomorrow

The Maes to co-headline Black Gate Cultural Centre with Rachel Sermani

USTRALIAN FOLK duo The Maes, currently promoting their new album, will play a double-headline gig in Galway with Scottish folk singer-songwriter Rachel Sermani.

From Melbourne, The Maes (formerly The Mae Trio ), are sisters Elsie and Maggie Rigby. The new album, simply entitled The Maes, is the follow-up to the Take Care Take Cover, which won the Age, Music Victoria Folk/Roots Album of the Year in 2017.

The Maes, which was recorded in Ireland, Nova Scotia, and Scotland, inbetween dates on their previous North American and European tour, is a return to the sisters 'folk music roots, and is gentle, intimate and conversational in tone.

The band has played the Woodford and Port Fairy Folk Festivals in Australia; the Edmonton and Vancouver Folk Festivals in Canada; and the Cambridge Folk and Celtic Connections festivals in Britain.

The show takes place in the Black Gate Cultural Centre, St Francis Street, tomorrow [Friday September 27] at 8.30pm. For tickets see www.tickettailor.com/events
