SHANE CLIFFORD is "the best comedian in Ireland, hands down," according to the Rubber Bandits' Blindboy Boatclub, and Galway can see why when he brings his new show to the Town Hall Theatre.
Clifford will bring his stand-up show, Near Shane Experience, to the Town Hall studio on Friday October 4 at 8.30pm, as part of his current Irish tour.
After working in retail for 10 years, Clifford decided, on a whim, to upload some silly videos to the internet, and thus the Facebook sensation ‘Shane’s Brilliant Page’ was born. The videos dealt with issues such as mental health and masculinity through an original, absurd, and funny lens. After accidentally attracting a small but devoted following he decided to give stand-up a go.
Since then, he has played the Castlepalooza, Cork Comedy, and the Vodafone Comedy festivals, and last year was a finalist at the prestigious So You Think You're Funny? competition at the Edinburgh Fringe.
