This year’s GMIT Careers Fair, taking place on Monday, September 30, will have a futuristic element with Intel showcasing a peeper robot and Jaguar Land Rover exhibiting one of its high-tech vehicles.
More than 80 companies and organisations will be represented at the event, which is for students and graduates of GMIT. The event, which runs from 12 noon to 3pm in the Dublin Road campus, Galway, is also open to the public.
The fair is an important date in the student and academic calendar. Prominent companies from a range of industries will be in attendance representing sectors such as accounting, agriculture, business, construction, science, and software. These companies will be offering all the latest information on both employment and placement opportunities, career trends, and advice for students and graduates.
The schedule includes video interviews with company representatives and students, CV clinics, advice on career opportunities, emerging job growth areas and trends, as well as information on postgraduate study, public and private sector job opportunities, and company presentations.
Ailish Radcliffe of Jaguar Land Rover said: “At Jaguar Land Rover graduates will have the opportunity to design, develop, and shape the future of our autonomous, connected, electrified, and electronic systems. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to establish your career with one of the world’s most prestigious automotive brands, Jaguar Land Rover.”
Bridie Killoran, GMIT careers officer, said: “Attending careers fairs is an excellent opportunity for meeting employers face-to-face to find out what roles they offer for graduates. On the day, the students can research the various roles and sectors which are the best fit for them. The opportunities available to graduates today both in Ireland and abroad are so varied that it is such a good time to be graduating and developing your career.”
