One Gaeltacht summer college has come up with a recession-busting way to cut the cost of course attendance for Galway city students - by laying on a bus from Eyre Square to An Cheathrú Rua for three weeks this summer.
Under Coláiste Aodáin's new initiative, Galway city students will now be able to attend a Coláiste Samhraidh for less than half of the normal cost, by availing of this new day course programme.
“The bus journey from the city to the Gaeltacht takes little over a half an hour, so there is no reason why students from Galway cannot join the other summer students during the day,” said manager of Coláiste Aodáin and TG4 psychologist Kevin Ó hEadhra.
Day course students will be required to bring a packed lunch and will be supervised at all times by trained college staff. Buses will leave Eyre Square at 9am every from Monday to Friday, returning to Eyre Square at 6pm for three weeks during the summer.
The cost of the course is €350 while a special bus will be laid on for the students, from Eyre Square and back, at an extra cost of €95 for the entire 15 days.
The day courses take place from July 21 to August 12. Spaces are limited. For more information contact 044 - 9349102.
