After years of fundraising, the Oughterard Community Playground took a major step forward with a sod-turning ceremony at Corribdale Grounds this week.
With some €55,000 of the €85,000 target figure already raised, the community playground is finally becoming a reality.
The sod was turned by Vanessa Butler, Oughterard Maid of the Parade 2009, and to celebrate a children’s fun day was held in the grounds of the Connemara Gateway Hotel.
