Charity Irish trad concert for Gavin Ralston

An Taibhdhearc to host performances by West Kerry Gaeltacht musicians, including the Begleys

MUSICIANS FROM the West Kerry Gaeltacht, and others, are coming to Galway to perform at a concert in An Taibhdhearc to raise funds for Gavin Ralston, who has been has been battling cancer since 2014.

The Gig For Gav takes place on Saturday September 21 and will feature the great Séamus Begley, the acclaimed accordion player and traditional singer, members of the Begley family, and special guests.

Guitarist and producer Gavin is from the famous Begley family on his mother’s side. He has worked in the Irish music scene for 25 years and has earned a reputation as a skilled professional, playing guitar with The Waterboys, Sharon Shannon, and Picture House, and producing recordings for Ronnie Drew and Bagatelle, and produced The Coronas first studio session.

He also has connections with Galway. In an interview with the Irish Independent, when asked if he would buy property, he said: “I would certainly consider a property on Inisbofin because it's a magical place.”
