Gardai seek assistance after Dominick Street assault

Gardai are appealing for information following a serious assault in the city centre recently.

A man was assaulted on Dominick Street at 3.55am on Sunday September 1, when he was set upon by two relatively young men on the street. The man suffered injuries to his face and ribs in this unprovoked and violent assault.

A man and a woman came to his assistance and put a stop to the assault. Gardai are anxious to speak to these two people, and to anyone else who may have information on this assault.

The assailants in this incident were two men in their early 20s, one about 5ft 9in and the other approximately 6ft 2in.

The smaller of the two was wearing all black clothing and black shoes. The taller was wearing jeans with tears and a light coloured T-shirt and light coloured open shirt over it, and he had a short back and sides style hair cut.

Gardai are urging anyone with information on this assault to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact Galway Garda Station at 091 538000.
