Ken Bruen to read at Culture Night event

Acclaimed crime fiction author to appear at special Over The Edge open-mic

KEN BRUEN, the award winning crime writer, and one of the most critically acclaimed novelists to ever emerge from Galway, will read at one of two special Over The Edge events for Culture Night.

Over The Edge will hold two special Culture Night open-mics - one for fiction writers, the other for poets - with prizes for the best readers, at Kenny's Bookshop and Gallery, Liosbán, on Friday September 20.

The open-mic for fiction writers starts at 3.30pm. Participants should bring two pages of a story to read. The reading will include guest appearances by Ken Bruen and from Anne Walsh Donnelly, who will read from her debut short story collection.

The open-mic for poets is at 5.45pm. Participants should bring along two poems to read. The reading will include guest appearances from Jean Kavanagh, Louise C Cole, and Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi.

The MC will be Kevin Higgins. Both open-mics will feature readings from writers long-listed for the 2019 Over The Edge New Writer of The Year competition. All are welcome. Admission is free.
