Cannon welcomes substantial investment in healthcare facilities in Tuam and Ballinasloe

An East Galway TD has welcomed the HSE Capital Plan’s commitment to major projects in the region.

Minister for the Diaspora and International Development Ciaran Cannon has said that the projects will see huge benefits for communities in the region with a substantial investment in healthcare in Tuam and Portiuncula Hospital the first choice for many in East Galway for medical assistance and surgeries.

“I’m delighted to see that a number of important projects in the region are to be progressed in the coming three years in the €2bn HSE Capital Plan,” he said.

“This includes the 50-bed ward block at Portiuncula Hospital, including fire safety works and life replacement programme; the Tuam Community Mental Health Team Base, OPD and Day Hospital and the Tuam Community Nursing Unit Upgrade with 50 Beds”.

“I also welcome the progression of other major projects to benefit healthcare in the county.

Minister Cannon said that these projects will have major benefits for communities in the region with this substantial investment in healthcare facilities in Tuam and Portiuncula Hospital the first choice for many in East Galway for medical assistance and surgeries.
