CÚIRT IS primarily a literary festival, but it always makes room for other events and this year’s festival promises a truly original contemporary dance show in the form of The Word Is Moving.
The Word Is Moving will be staged in the Town Hall Theatre on Monday at 8pm. The show is produced and curated by Galway’s Dancer in Residence Tanya McCrory in collaboration with Cúirt.
Some of the finest Irish and international dance artists will come together for this one of a kind event - which combines dance, voice, and the written word - to investigate words themselves.
Performers include the Rex Levitates dance company; Belfast’s Ponydance led by Leonie McDonagh; Legitimate Bodies Dance Co; Mary Nunan, the original artistic director of Dagdha Dance Co Limerick, and the current course director of the MA in contemporary dance performance at the Irish World Academy Music and Dance.
Also performing are Steve Batts, the artistic director of Echo Echo Dance Company; Shannon Cooney the Canadian born, and Berlin based, dancer and choreographer; and Galway’s Chrysalis Dance Company, led by Judith Sibley.
Tickets are available from the Town Hall Theatre on 091 - 569777. Information can also be obtained from the Galway Arts Centre, 47 Dominick Street, on 091 - 565886.
