Dylan Murphy - new single, Galway gig

Singer-guitarist releases 'Vending Machine' on September 20

ON HIS forthcoming single, 'Vending Machine', Dylan Murphy swops the electric guitar for an acoustic, fusing his blues with raw Americana, and injecting some 'cowboy' through the string bends and the song's waltz rhythm.

'Vending Machine' will be released on September 20 and continues the Limerick born, Galway based, vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter's strong run of releases over the past two years. The addition of Emma Langford on vocals (strictly backing, but so prominent it could be classed as a duet ), proved a shrewd move, as she adds to the atmosphere and drama of the song.

Dylan, and his band, The 40Ft Women, play the Róisín Dubh tomorrow at 8pm. Also on the bill are singer-songwriter Eoin Dolan who fuses surf, folk, and Beatles-esque melodies into a style 'sci-fi/surf-pop'. Clash Music compared him to Syd Barrett and Brian Wilson; and singer-songwriter Jack Lee, whose influences include Simon & Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers.

This is a 'Citóg Records presents...' event. Admission is €10/5.
