According to the Daft.ie Business Intelligence Report, O’Donnellan & Joyce auctioneers at 5 Mary Street in Galway is listed as the number one real estate agent nationwide in terms of sales, and it commands an impressive 22 per cent growth in terms of volume sold year on year. O’Donnellan & Joyce strives to stay two steps ahead of the competition and the ongoing success of its Wild Atlantic property auction series of live auctions, which are held regularly in the Harbour Hotel in Galway, are renowned throughout the country.

As outlined in the Daft.ie report, O’Donnellan & Joyce has listed more than 450 properties to date with multiple new properties being added daily. The property was presented in excellent condition throughout and was very popular among viewers, attracting large crowds at open viewings. This stunning house closed out at a sale price of €570,000.

Upper Salthill: This three bed end-of-terrace residence located on the Upper Salthill Road offers approximately 860sq ft over two storeys, including living room, kitchen, bathroom, a large hallway, and access to rear garden, while the first floor comprises three generous sized bedrooms and family bathroom. Devon Park, Salthill: Located in one of Galway’s most popular and sought-after residential areas on a magnificent corner site, this spacious family home has it all. Offering five bedrooms, a large corner site, and ample space and style throughout, this property attracted viewers from near and far and with considerable interest, the price rose from an asking price of €500,000 to €608,000 - over €100,000 more than the sellers had expected to receive.

Moyola Park, Newcastle: Situated in the desirable Moyola Park estate in the popular Newcastle area, a large detached house on a substantial site drew a large crowd at viewings. Offering five bedrooms and space in abundance, this wonderful property sold for €395,000.

Among other recent sales were a three bedroom terraced house at St Nicholas’s Avenue, Claddagh, which sold for €348,000; and a four bedroom detached residence in the popular Lurgan Park, Renmore, which sold for €352,000. A two bedroom terraced home on Raleigh Row, in Galway’s West End, sold for a staggering €270,000. Away from the city, a spectacular four bedroom detached property at Lissadyra in Tuam sold for an impressive €152,000. One four bedroom terraced home in An Cregan, Barna, sold for €366,000.

A number of apartments also commanded strong sales prices including a two bedroom unit in Galway Bay Apartments which attracted an offer of €185,000. A beautifully appointed two bedroom apartment in Ashling Court in Renmore sold for €277,000. A similar two bedroom property in Barr Taoide overlooking Galway Harbour which sold with tenants in place was closed at €235,000.

In addition, 2019 saw the return of new homes with Burkeway Construction leading the way with the launch of its new development at Breacan, comprising 15 semidetached homes on the Letteragh Road. O’Malley Construction sold a large number of four bedroom semidetached homes in Tuairin on the Coast Road, Oranmore. These ranged in value from €375,000 to €382,000. Nine prestigious detached homes were brought to the market in Dun Eibhir in Furbo, and with just three units remaining this build by Kinport Construction offers exceptionally luxurious homes. In Clarinbridge, Redington Woods offers prestigious country living in the heart of the village. Niall Browne of the O’Donnellan & Joyce new homes team noted: "Builders are building, and the buyers are lining up with mortgage approval and the help to buy scheme in place."

The commercial department, which is led by Tony Joyce and Shane McDonagh, recorded some of the most high profile sales to date. Below are a number of commercial sales in 2019.

A large 1,815sq m warehouse unit located in the Claregalway Corporate Business Park, a modern commercial development located on the outskirts of Claregalway village just off the R381 Claregalway to Oranmore link route, attracted a lot of attention when it was introduced to the market earlier this year. With tremendous interest, the lot comprising multiple units commanded a selling price of €500,000.

A modern three storey car showroom located in the Briarhill Industrial Estate on the east side of the city was offered to the market by private treaty. Under the eye of Shane McDonagh, many viewings took place with investors and business owners showing great interest. A final sale price of €1,400,000 was achieved as the 21,000sq ft unit changed hands.
