Tipperary stars - they’ve come a long way

Extra tickets to go on sale for The 2 Johnnies Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway show

TIPPERARY STARS, The 2 Johnnies, are tip top of the world. Not only has the premier county won the All-Ireland but its native comedian sons have just gone and sold out Galway’s Town Hall Theatre - and that’s before they reveal the identity of their mystery guest...there’ll be no party like it.

As tickets went on sale on Friday last, demand for the Tipperary duo’s live podcast and book launch was as intense as major international stars like Bill Bailey, John Bishop and Ross Noble.

Such unprecedented pulling power from the Johnnies means that organisers have scrambled to find a bigger room to accommodate the demand. And with some success; The 2 Johnnies live podcast and book launch is moving to Leisureland on Friday October 25, with same show time of 10pm, but with an earlier door time of 9pm. All previously purchased tickets for the Town Hall Theatre show are valid for the new venue, with extra tickets going on sale this Friday [August 23] at 10am from vodafonecomedycarnival.com

The 2 Johnnies are Johnny B (O’Brien ) and Johnny Smacks (McMahon ) who effortlessly capture the uniquely funny side of all things Irish. Their popularity is such that their YouTube channel has had more than eight million views; they have 170,000 followers on Facebook; and have scored four No 1 songs in the Irish iTunes chart. The live show often features material too controversial to be broadcast.

Vodafone Comedy Carnival update

.

With a hugely impressive line-up just announced for the Vodafone Comedy Carnival this year, many of the bigger shows have already sold out. Two of John Bishop’s three shows have already gone, with a handful of tickets remaining for Tuesday October 22 in Leisureland. Normally the Liverpudlian legend plays massive arenas so this is a rare chance to see him perform in the relatively intimate confines of the Salthill venue.

The same is true for the other major headliners of the yearly laugh fest. It is a rare treat indeed to witness comics of the quality of Bishop or Bill Bailey and Ross Noble up close and personal. This is ideally how live comedy should be consumed and kudos to the organisers for making it happen year after year.

Another act swiftly shifting tickets is Today FM’s arch pranksters Dermot & Dave. The daytime radio duo have form in Galway - they have sold out every show they have ever played here. Their Friday October 25 performance in the Black Box is no exception and has already sold out, but tickets remain for Thursday in the same venue if you are quick.

Finally Bingo Loco is coming to town. This is a madcap bingo/rave mash-up which is taking Ireland, and the world, by storm. This crazy night, which is nothing your granny would recognise, is invading the Galmont Hotel Ballroom on October 24 and 25 as part of the Vodafone Comedy Carnival for a night of dance offs, rave rounds, lip sync battles, and mental prizes ranging from European getaways to garden sheds.

In true tongue in cheek fashion, Bingo Loco has invited Mickey Joe Harte to perform for some extra special Eurovision fun. Get ready for the bingo you know and love....with a twist! Grab your dance shoes, uncap your marker and get ready for a crazy night filled with all sorts of shenanigans!
