PAIN AND Glory, the new film by the great Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar, starring Antonio Banderas and Penélope Cruz, will open the Galway Film Society's autumn 2019 season of screenings.
The film will be screened at the Pálás Cinema on Sunday September 29 and Monday 30, but you can see the film ahead of that by purchasing a GFS Autumn 2019 Season Membership Ticket and attending the season programme launch on Thursday August 29.
The launch takes place at 7.30pm at The Merrow Bar at the Pálás, with the screening at 8.30pm. Pain and Glory stars Banderas as Salvador Mallo, a veteran director suffering many health issues, which he blames for the creative rut he finds himself in. As he tries to recover both creatively and physically, he remembers his mother (Cruz ) and reflects on his work, family, and past loves. Banderas won Best Actor for his performance in the film at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
