Secure your further education place in GCC

School leavers and mature students who are considering Galway Community College as their further education destination in September 2019 can apply and register online now on all QQI accredited courses. All courses offer a mix of practical and portfolio work and work experience. They are designed as a step towards skilled employment or progression to higher education institutes. There are no CAO points required for further education courses and after completion you can apply for more than 1,200 CAO courses that accept a QQI award for progression purposes.

GCC offers a broad range of Level 5 and 6 courses with tutors developing new courses and new modules in line with industry trends in employment. The Level 6 courses give direct access to second year courses in GMIT following a recent formal partnership between the colleges. GCC has developed strong links to local businesses with work experience and Erasmus opportunities offered in six specialist departments — business and secretarial; design and technology; film, music, and theatre; social care; sport and equine; and science and engineering.

New courses for September 2019 include Level 5 retail pharmacy assistant, Level 5 computer systems and networks and introduction to software development, and Level 5 apprentice preparatory course in building trades. At Level 6 there are two new courses — mobile journalism and film production, and an ITEC diploma in Pilates teaching and exercise specialist.

On completion of a PLC course a maximum of 390 points can be achieved for progression to third level education. Successful completion and certification of a QQI Level 5 course allows you to apply through the CAO system for any course up to 390 points.
