It is back baby. The Premier League is returning after a three month break and here at Advertiser Towers we are super excited as the big kickoff this Friday night signifies the return of the Advertiser Tribal League in association with Monroe's Live - The perfect place to watch all this seasons games.
And with the league beginning it also means the weekly column from myself, The Don, on which players will do the business and lead their Fantasy team to glory in May.
So who should you select for the opening weekend of the Premier League?
Raheem Sterling (Man City ) v West Ham
The Player of the Year for the 2018/19 season has picked up where he left off with a phenomenal pre-season. Five goals and two assists in the warm up matches including a goal last weekend at Wembley sees Sterling absolutely flying into the new season. Interestingly, Pep Guardiola has used the England international as a centre forward during pre-season which has paid off to date. I expect Sterling to kick-off the new term with a goal or two against West Ham at the London Stadium this Saturday lunchtime.
Ross Barkley (Chelsea ) v Man United
Will this be the season the central midfielder fulfills the expectation placed on his shoulders as a teenager at Goodison Park. Barkley has scored four goals and provided two assists so far in pre-season for the Blues, and with Frank Lampard at the helm, I can see the England midfielder being given a start at Old Trafford on Sunday and I believe he will have an impact on the result.
Luke Freeman (Sheffield United ) v Bournemouth
The opening day of any new league campaign for newly promoted sides brings a mixture of excitement and trepidation as they make the big step up. Luke Freeman looks like he is ready to step up to the plate, notching two goals and providing three assists in pre-season. On Saturday the Blades travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth - not the most intimidating of starts to life at the top table. I think United can get a positive result and if they do, Freeman will have a lot to do with it.
