Galwegians turn out in style for First Furlong at The Ardilaun

Nine years supporting National Breast Cancer Research Institute

Lunch, fashion, entertainment and race fever took over on The Ardilaun Hotel, in association with the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, on Tuesday for another successful First Furlong Charity pre-races luncheon

Proceeds from the event over the past nine years have supported the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, a charity that is positively impacting future outcomes for breast cancer patients by funding world-class breast cancer research at NUI Galway.

The National Breast Cancer Research Institute is a national charity that raises funds in support of research at the Lambe Institute for Translational Research at Galway University Hospital. By funding this research, the charity aims to positively impact future outcomes for breast cancer patients

Working in collaboration with universities and hospitals across the globe, the research team is focused on areas that include personalised medicine, breast regeneration, and innovative diagnostics and therapeutics.

The National Breast Cancer Research Institute raises funds for research from charity events, community-based fundraising, campaigns, and support from individuals and companies.

It is events such as the First Furlong at The Ardilaun that contribute to this research, and preparations are already under way for next year already, so save the date for the 10th anniversary on Tuesday July 28, 2020.
