Will it be Wayne's World for 2019?

GAA player-model Wayne Walsh of Galway to represent Ireland in Mr World 2019

A Galway man, model, actor, and GAA player will take to the stage on August 23 in the Philippines at the Mr World competition and has been named as one of the favourites to claim the coveted title.

Wayne Walsh (28 ) will represent Ireland after securing the national crown in September and he says he has stepped up his preparations for the competition in Manila.

He said; “I’ll give it my all and prepare as well as I can for it because the competition will be strong. At the moment, I am doing a lot of gym training and looking after my food to try and get into good shape because there will be a lot of fitness challenges at Mr World. I am trying to be as physically prepared as I can."

As well as stepping away from alcohol in preparation for Mr World, he has also given up drink while playing hurling for his local club in Gort, Galway.

"I have played hurling all of my life and there would have been drinking bans imposed at different stages since I was 18. It is not something I struggle with because I don’t need drink to be social."

An ambassador for mental health Walsh has spoken candidly in the past about self care. He believes in taking a stand and speaking about depression regardless of his teammates or any lad culture that exists.
