The music of Miles Davis in Galway

Celebrating a musical genius at The Black Gate

THE CAREER of Miles Davis is almost the history of post-war American jazz, with the trumpeter exploring, and often pioneering, such genres as cool jazz, hard bop, modal jazz, as well as fusion through his embrace of rock, funk, and hip hop.

JAZZGate: The Music of Miles Davis takes place tonight at 9pm in The Black Gate Cultural Centre, St Francis Street, and will see trumpeter Bill Blackmore joining Aengus Hackett (guitar ), Dan Bodwell (double bass ), and Barry Duffy (drums ), performing music from across the career of this jazz genius.

Admission is €10. JAZZGate is curated by Galway musician Aengus Hackett. Next week's show (August 15 ) will see Róisín Mulliez perform the songs of Ella Fitzgerald.
