Extra bus services are on the way for Moycullen, Rosscahill, and Oughterard, after the National Transport Authority agreed to licence evening and nighttime services to the areas.
The NTA has agreed to licence two additional services to Bus Éireann for the Galway to Moycullen and Oughterard routes. The NTA has confirmed the licence will include additional services from Galway at 20.15 and 22.15, seven days a week.
The news has been welcomed by Government chief whip, and Minister of State, Seán Kyne. He said he hopes Bus Éireann would “ensure agreement for buses and drivers within their organisation” for the services to start this autumn.
“There is a demand for late evening services to Moycullen, Rosscahill and Oughterard for university and college students, those out for the evening in Galway, or working later in the evening as well,” he said. “These are welcome improvements and they come in addition to an increase in the frequency of buses for the south Connemara bus route also.”
The Minister added that population growth is anticipated to continue in the Moycullen/Oughterard area and additional bus services were important to the area.
