Emman Idama to headline Comedy KARLnival

From 'class clown' to critically acclaimed regular on the club circuit

EMMAN IDAMA, the Nigerian-born Irish citizen, hailed as “charming and energetic" with "panache and charm to spare” by Chortle.co.uk, headlines the next Comedy KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh.

Emman, who plays the Dominick Street venue on Tuesday [August 6], began his comedy career at school – much to the dismay of his teachers. Today he is a regular on the club circuit; has performed at the Vodafone Comedy Festival, Kilkenny Cat Laughs, Electric Picnic, Forbidden Fruit, and Longitude; and appeared on Republic of Telly and Des Bishop’s This Is Ireland.

Also on the bill is “Mayo’s most charming ball of misery”, Bob Hennigan, who The Irish Times called, "the most criminally underrated comedian in the country”. A veteran of the Galway comedy scene and resident MC of the acclaimed Ireland’s Smallest Comedy Club, he is a previous winner of the Tedfest Toilet Duck Award and the 2015 Galway Comedy Award.

Support is from Jack McKenna and NUIG Comedy Society’s Josh Murtagh. The MC is Karl Spain. Doors are at 8pm. Tickets are €6 from Róisín Dubh; www.roisindubh.net; or OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; or €8 at the door.
