St James’s GAA Club has received a grant of €19,000 from the Galway City Council towards renovation works at it’s Renmore clubhouse.
The works will involve conversion of toilets, showers, and changing rooms, and will also improve accessibility. The funding was secured through the Community Enhancement Programme 2019.
The grant has been welcomed by Galway City East Fianna Fáil councillor Mike Crowe. “This is much needed and indeed much welcome funding for the club,” he said. “I have been advocating for some time the need to improve both this facility as it is used extensively and in need of upgrading. It is a busy place been used by both boys’ and girls’ teams and therefore I was conscious of the need for privacy and an adequate level of changing facilities.”
Cllr Crowe said he intends to work on securing funds in the next round for the James’s Clubhouse in Mervue as “this is in need of upgrading and modernisation”.
