Summer success for The Connacht Property Auction

The Connacht Property Auction held its latest public auction event on Thursday July 4 in The Menlo Park Hotel, Galway. A wide range of family homes, builders' projects, and land was offered for sale from around the province.

The summer months are traditionally the busiest time of year for property transactions, and the Connacht auction team were expecting some competitive bidding at the latest auction event. They were not left disappointed as 93 per cent of the lots offered sold at the auction last week. The company has an impressive 90 per cent success rate so far this year, and with two further upcoming auctions the auction team will be looking for this high success rate to continue.

Back to July 4, where the auction team sold a well maintained, tenanted, two bed apartment. The property at No 27 An Larnach, Bohermore, was offered to the market in partnership with Property Partners Emma Gill at bids over €149,000. With an excellent location within walking distance of Eyre Square, the property attracted a number of potential buyers and competitive bidding. The property offered an excellent opportunity for first time buyers and investors alike, and sold for €160,000.

A very popular lot at the auction was a idyllic two bed terraced house in turnkey condition located at No 5 Clos na Feirme, Clonbur, Co Galway, offered at bids over €99,000. The property was also brought to market in partnership with Property Partners Emma Gill and had strong interest from both the Irish and UK market in the lead up to the auction. Bidding came in swiftly and after more than 20 bids from a number of parties, it was successfully sold for €120,000.

Elsewhere in Mayo, a fine four bed detached family home was offered at bids over €155,000 and successfully sold in partnership with Dearbhla Friel Properties. Creggagh, Foxford, was again subject to strong interest in the lead up to the auction, where the hammer fell at €165,000. In Leitrim, a spacious two bed apartment overlooking Leitrim Village Marina was sold in partnership with Bernadette Gallagher auctioneers. This ideally located vacant property was subject to strong local interest and after some brisk bidding was sold for €75,500 to a delighted bidder.

The Connacht Property Auction is now welcoming entries for its upcoming online auction, taking place on August 22, as well as the next public auction on September 19.
