Galway Film Fleadh to screen Making Tom

A FILM about the creation of the statue to the late, legendary, Irish country singer, Big Tom, will be screened at the Galway Film Fleadh, and it is a documentary with Galway connections.

The statue of 'Big Tom McBride', commissioned by Monaghan County Council, created by artist Mark Richards, and unveiled in September 2018, and the story of its creation, is the subject of Making Tom, which will be screened in the Town Hall Theatre on Wednesday July 10 at 12 noon.

It is directed by Lorraine Higgins, who is originally from Ballinasloe/Loughrea, and Táine King, Big Tom's niece, and was edited in Knocknacarra by Higgins and King, along with Peadar Ó Clochartaigh.
