Arts festival box office opens in new location

GIAF box office is now situated in The Cornstore, Middle Street

The Galway International Arts Festival opened its box office this week, in the new location of The Cornstore, Middle Street.

The box office is open Mondays to Saturdays, 10am to 5pm, until July 6. From July 8 to 28, opening hours will be extended from 10am to 7pm, Mondays to Saturdays, and from 12 noon to 5pm on Sundays.

This year's GIAF will feature 21 music acts playing the Heineken Big Top, including Macy Gray, legendary songwriter Burt Bacharach, Bell X1, a double-bill with Villagers and John Grant, Two Door Cinema Club, The Academic, and The Coronas.

Between five and 10 different plays and shows will be performed on any given day during the 14 days of the festival, including Irish National Opera's staging of Least Like The Other, based on the life of Rosemary Kennedy, sister of JFK; Epiphany from Druid; and Moonfish Theatre’s Redemption Falls, adapted from the novel by Joseph O’Connor. The Abbey Theatre will presents a new work by Dylan Coburn Gray, Citysong; while Rough Magic will present Cleft by Fergal McElherron, a visceral story of one family’s will to survive.
