Over The Edge Fiction Slam

Do you have a story to share? Now is your chance!

THERE ARE plenty of opportunities for poets to read their work in public, but far fewer for fiction writers, which is why the Over The Edge annual fiction slam, now in its 11th year, is such a valuable local institution.

This year's slam takes place in the The Kitchen café at the Galway City Museum, Spanish Arch, on Friday June 28 at 8pm. The first 12 fiction writers to make it to The Kitchen that evening will be guaranteed a place in the slam. Early arrival is advised. Participants should bring two pieces of fiction. There are two rounds, each lasting five minutes. Extracts from longer stories are admissible. Stories do not have to be memorised.

The slam will be judged by a three person jury made up of award-winning novelist, poet, and short story writer Liz McSkeane, best-selling novelist Niamh Boyce, and an audience member. Three writers will go through to the second round and the prize for the winner is a bottle of red wine.

Admission is free and all welcome. For more information call 087 - 6431748.
