Award winning Carl Donnelly for the KARLnival

'This young Irishman sure knows how to write a gag' - The List

CARL DONNELLY, winner of Chortle Best Club Comedian 2017, Chortle Best Newcomer 2007, and Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2007, will headline the next Comedy KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh.

In 2009, Carl performed his debut solo show, Relax Everyone, It’s Carl Donnelly!, at the Edinburgh Fringe and was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer. He was also nominated for the Fosters Comedy Award in 2013. He has since brought seven further shows to Edinburgh, his latest being the very well-reviewed Strictly Carl Donnelly! in 2018.

Internationally, Carl has played Montreal Just for Laughs, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and Sydney Comedy Festival. He has also appeared on Mock The Week, Dave’s One Night Stand, Russell Howard’s Good News, and Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled. In late 2018, Carl and fellow comedian Julian Deane launched the podcast Two Vegan Idiots.

Support is from Sean Nolan, winner of the RTÉ New Comedy Awards. His highly creative and unique brand of one-liner comedy has earned him praise from Chortle.co.uk ("Has creativity to burn" ) and The List ("This young Irishman sure knows how to write a gag" ).
