Sleepless Doughiska lotto winner staying quiet after he collects €4m cheque

A Galwayman who admitted that he didn’t sleep a wink all weekend after winning €4million on the Lotto, is staying quiet after travelling to Dublin on Tuesday to collect his massive cheque.

He said that he went out for a stroll until dawn arrived when he shared the good news with his family.

After he realised that he had scooped the Lotto jackpot of €4,051,610, the overjoyed man revealed that he learned he had won the Lotto at 1:30am on Sunday morning and didn’t get a wink of sleep that night.

He bought the ticket at Joyce’s Supermarket in Doughiska Shopping Centre, Doughiska Road, Galway, where staff were this week delighted for their lucky customer.

Speaking at Lotto HQ in Dublin, he said that had to check it again and again.

“I checked my ticket online pretty late that night and immediately one of the lines on the ticket jumped out at me.

“I knew I had a few of those numbers and quickly I realised that I had matched all the numbers! I couldn’t believe it.

“I checked the ticket again and again just to be sure but it was an incredible feeling. I couldn’t sleep a wink after so I went out and took a walk around our town a few times. My mind was in overdrive.

“I think I walked until it was light out and I waited for the rest of the family to get out of bed so I could tell them the good news.”
