In Safe Hands - a French adoption drama

Jeanne Herry's second feature explores conflicting emotions for mothers in adoption procedure

IN SAFE Hands, the second feature film from actor-turned-filmmaker, Jeanne Herry, explores the conflicting emotions faced by women giving up their babies for adoption, and those desperate to have their own.

Starring Sandrine Kiberlain, Gilles Lellouche, and Élodie Bouchez, In Safe Hands will be screened by the Galway Film Society in the Pálás Cinema at 6.30pm this Sunday and Monday.

When baby Theo’s birth mother surrenders him to adoption, child protection services worker Karine entrusts Theo to Jean, who is no stranger to the foster system himself. He takes on the responsibility of the newborn until a suitable home can be found. Meanwhile, Alice has never given up the fight to be a mother and faces the prospect of this dream finally coming true, although nothing is certain.
