MONGOOSE CALL themselves "a musical melty-pot combining the vocals, instrument-playing and songwriting of four women", and they are coming to the Róisín Dubh this weekend.
Mongoose - Molly O'Mahony, Ailbhe Dunne, Muireann Ní Cheannabháin, and Cara Dunne - bring their harmony-led songs, balanced neatly between folk and indie pop, to the Dominick Street venue this Sunday at 8pm.
They have played Other Voices, Body & Soul, Longitude, and Electric Picnic; supported Glen Hansard at Vicar Street; and performed at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris. Their eponymous debut album came out in 2015, followed by the Four EP in 2017. Last week saw the release of their new album, Suck The Wound, which sees the quartet expand their sound to incorporate South American bolero and jazz.
DervSwerve music blog called Mongoose, "a vocal powerhouse with a line in charming yet incisive idiosyncrasy, Mongoose are an act unafraid of being true to their boundless, abstract and vibrantly coloured creative selves. A must for lovers of musical ingenuity and adventurous atmospherics".
Support is from Niamh Regan. Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net; the Ticket Desk at OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and The Róisín Dubh.
