GAA fixture review

The GAA is to establish a special group to undertake a review of all fixtures, following a recently meeting of the Club Players' Association and the GAA's president John Horan and director general Tom Ryan.

The Fixtures Review Group will be tasked with reviewing and changing existing competition structures with the aim to bring certainty to GAA fixtures for club and county players.

It was agreed GAA president John Horan will announce an independent chairperson and committee members within the next two weeks, comprising some 10 representatives, including one from the CPA. Its first meeting will take place in early June, and the group will submit recommendations to Croke Park in October/November 2019. Clubs and counties will have time to review the proposal and a decision will be voted on at Congress in February 2020. If passed, the changes will take effect in 2021.
