Summer is a time for adventure. Kumon offers students of all ages and abilities the possibility of individualised adventures in maths and/or English.
The programme runs year round. Students start this adventure with a detailed diagnostic assessment to find the right start point. The start point is always very easy and designed to cultivate confidence in working with accuracy and speed. Each student then receives a completely individualised plan for his/her development.
Students attend class once a week, for one half hour per subject, and receive close observation, guidance, and support. They commit to a maximum of 20 minutes daily study.
The aim of the Kumon programme is to develop strong, independent learners, many of whom, over time, study far beyond their school level.
Kumon Galway City West acknowledges the achievements of each student at an awards ceremony in September. All students receive certificates showing the level they have achieved. Those who are studying six months or more above their school level receive bronze medals, those studying two years or more ahead receive silver medals, and students working three or more years ahead receive gold medals.
