GRÁINNE COTTER, the Clare born, Galway based, multi-instrumentalist and singer, has released her new single, 'Shadows', and will play the Róisín Dubh as part of her current Irish tour.
Gráinne, whose music draws on jazz and folk, and whose vocal style has been compared to Florence Welch and Bat for Lashes, plays the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday May 15 at 8pm. She has previously played Electric Picnic, Other Voices, and Féile na Bealtaine.
‘Shadows’ is a meditation on disconnection, on what it means to be alone, and on the beauty of nature, in particular the sea. There are further Galway connections with the song's video which was shot in a private forest in Connemara and directed by Galwegian Leon Butler. It also features the spacesuit used in David Bowie’s ‘Blackstar’ video, which here is worn by Sean T O'Meallaigh, best known from the Connemara made TV series An Klondike.
Admission is €5. See www.grainnecottermusic.com
