PAUL CURRIE'S comedy is like few others on the circuit right now - a compelling mixture of sketch comedy, absurdism, puppetry, slapstick, and mime, delivered with great physicality and energy, and often without the comic uttering a single word.
Currie makes a welcome return to Galway to play the Comedy KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh on Tuesday May 14 at 8pm. The Skinny called him “unique and utterly original"; Edinburgh Fringe Guru called him "the Monty Python version of stand up comedy"; while Stewart Lee said, "Paul Currie was my favourite show of the Fringe”.
Also on the bill is Michael Rice, who began his stand-up comedy career in Chicago and worked regularly in the city's most prestigious clubs - The Laugh Factory, Zanies and The Comedy Bar, where he was resident MC. He returned to Ireland last year and has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway.
Support is from Gordo Brennan. His confessional comedic persona, acerbic wit, cut-throat irreverence, and dominating stage presence, saw him make it to the final five of the inaugural Laughter Games competition; the finals of Show Me The Funny; and he was 'First Runner Up' at Dublin’s Next Top Comic.
