Bringing Madness round to Our House

The songs of the 'Nutty Boys' on stage at the Black Box Theatre

MADNESS, THE British ska-pop legends who lit up the British charts in the 1980s with 'Baggy Trousers', 'House Of Fun', 'It Must Be Love', and 'Our House', and who remain a much loved institution, will be celebrated in Galway this month.

Close to a year after their triumphant concert at the 2018 Galway International Arts Festival, the Galway Musical Society's production of Our House, based on the songs of Madness.

Based in 1980s Camden Town, Our House, the Olivier Award-winning musical by Tim Firth, writer of Calendar Girls, tells the story of Londoner Joe Casey (Eoin Corcoran ), who, on the night of his 16th birthday, takes Sarah (Claudia Glavey ) out on their first date. In an effort to impress her with bravado, he breaks into a building site owned by Mister Pressman, a high-end property developer. The police turn up, at which point Joe’s life splits into two: the Good Joe, who stays to help, and Bad Joe, who flees.
