Johnny McEvoy and Tom McBride jnr play Loughrea

ONE OF Ireland's leading folk singer-songwriters, Johnny McEvoy, and country singer Tom McBride jnr, son of the late, legendary, Big Tom, play the Lough Rea Hotel on Tuesday April 30.

This will be Tom McBride jnr's debut west of Ireland concert. “Dad loved the West and he had a huge following in that part of the country," he said. "It will be lovely to meet with many of his great friends again." Tom will be joined by his cousin, Glór Tíre finalist, Damian Davis.

Johnny McEvoy's career and popularity have endured for more than 50 years, and he once supported the Rolling Stones. Also performing are Gerry Guthrie, Mick Flavin, Matt Keane, Pat McKenna, Damian Davis, Philomena McGovern and Michael O’Brien, Mick Mulhern, Patsy McCaul, Michelle Murphy, sean nós dancer Thomas Connolly; The Ryan Turner Band; and Russian born country singer Larissa Tormey. There will be a country session in the bar with Mick Mulhern and the Usual Suspects (4pm to 6pm ).

Also on the bill is 16-year-old Aoife Leonard, a student in Gort Community School, who performed in the Clayton Hotel last November. “It was the biggest audience I ever performed in front of," she said. "I will never forget the atmosphere that night. I can hardly wait for the show in Loughrea."
