Neylons Facility Management, which employs more than 500 people, celebrated its 2019 Academy for Growth graduation at a special event in Loughrea recently.
Twenty-five employees progressed through the company programme this year, with more than 70 participants who have graduated now in managerial and supervisory roles nationwide across the Neylon sites.
This company, founded by Sylvester Neylon in 2004, has become an established national provider of contract facility management services .The Neylons Academy for Growth was set up in 2014 and is the only one of its kind in Europe in a business of this size. The academy ranges from operational elements, such as project planning and budgeting, to soft skills such as performance and behavioral management.
Speaking on this year's Academy for Growth, head of business development, Ciara Gordon, says Neylons has created a pathway to success and made it available to everyone.
"When Sylvie founded the company in 2004, he built on his strengths and added to the team where he needed the additional skills. He looked for leadership quality in those who joined at entry level. This strategy paid off, as one of the first employees was Maria Sava and she is now the CEO of Neylons."
Minister Pat Breen says Neylon's success is fown to the culture of its leadership and investment in training people.
“It is great to return to Neylons headquarters in Loughrea and be able to report of an incredible increase of 400 jobs over the last five years. This impressive growth for an Irish SME in such a competitive industry such as facility management. Neylons are especially good at helping those who do not go down the typical third level education route to achieve their potential, “ Minister Breen says.
"If we could all learn a little from Neylons in this respect, we would see fantastic attrition rates and more growth across the workforce."
In 2018 Neylons was awarded Top prize for Workplace & People Development at the European Business Awards.
