Galway Actors' Workshop announces new course for young adults

Galway Actors' Workshop has announced its pilot season of eight-week courses for young adults between the ages of 13 and 18, with a choice of Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 10pm (starts May 8 ) or Saturdays from 10.30am to 1.30pm (starts May 11 ), at the Anno Santo Hotel.

The tutors are seasoned theatre professionals with experience teaching adults and young people, and the course will follow Galway Actors' Workshop's Acting for Adults curriculum — focusing on character, relationships, objectives, space, ensemble, storytelling, voice, physicality, and text. It is suitable for beginners and those who have done some performance but would like to learn more about the craft of acting.

In the interests of giving students the quality attention they deserve, and taking them seriously as prospective artists, groups will be kept small (between 10 and 12 ), and will be held to the same professional standards as adult students.

As the workshop works with more and more young adult students, new courses and opportunities will be developed to aid their further development, as well as guidance in preparation for auditions to drama school.

Cost of this course is €230 with an early bird discount of €210 if you pay before April 23. There are also further discounts for siblings (10 per cent for two, 15 per cent for three, 20 per cent for four ). For more inquiries or to book, call Sarah on 087 237 3531 or email [email protected].
