KAVA artists explore why Earth Matters

13 artists to display work on Climate Change to coincide with Earth Day.

EARTH DAY, the annual event involving 193 countries demonstrating support for environmental protection, takes place on Monday April 22, and among the Galway events will be an exhibition in Kinvara.

Earth Matters is the title of an exhibition from 13 Kinvara Area Visual Arts artists, which is currently running at the village courthouse, and which focuses on climate change. The exhibiting artists are Petra Breathnach, Fiona Cawley, Patsy Connolly, Belinda Fair, Pam Fleming, Mavis Gormally, Antoinette Hensey, Meriel Lloyd, Regina O’Dea, Julia O’Keefe, Diane Reid, Patricia Timmons, and Darryl Vance.

The official opening takes place tomorrow at 8pm (all welcome ), while on Friday 26 at 8pm, the Arctic/Antarctic photographer Camille Seaman will give a talk and video presentation. Tickets for this event are available through camseam.eventbrite.ie

There will also be a Tóraíocht Taisce/Treasure It Trail for children on Easter Monday (contact [email protected] ) and an eco-printing workshop by Regina O’Dea on Saturday 27 (10.30am to 4pm ). The cost is €40 for the day, with all materials provided.

Gallery opening times are 11am to 5pm (closed on Saturday April 27 ). The exhibition runs until Sunday 28.
