AARON MONAGHAN is known as one of Ireland's finest actors, and Galway is already very familiar with his outstanding performances in numerous Druid productions through the years. More recently he has branched out into directing.
Druid Ensemble member Aaron Monaghan has been appointed artistic director of Livin' Dred theatre company and he will make his Livin' Dred directorial debut with Mark Doherty's Trad, which comes to The Mick Lally Theatre from Thursday April 25 to Saturday 27 at 8pm. Indeed Monaghan has described the play as "a cross between Waiting For Godot and Father Ted".
Trad is a poignant and hilarious tale of a 100-year-old Irishman Thomas...and his father who live in a remote part of Ireland. Together they set out to discover the 70-year old son Thomas never knew he had: “There’s a child belonging to me wandering around out there for seventy years and I never met him. I’ve a trip left in me… Get me leg!”
The cast is Emmet Kirwan (Da ), Clare Barrett (Fr Rice and Sal ), and Seamus O'Rourke (Son ). Tickets are €15 via The Mick Lally Theatre (091 - 568660, www.druid.ie ).
