Connemara on the back foot

Connacht Rugby junior club champions Connemara RFC face favourites Enniscorthy in this year's AIB League round robin qualifier at Monastery Field on Saturday (2.30pm ).

The Leinster champions have won their two previous games against Ulster's Instonians and Munster's Clonmel, and will be expected to advance to the senior league next season.

However Connemara, although having lost their two previous games, will be keen to sign off a successful season with a victory in front of their home crowd.

They will be disappointed to have lost to Clonmel by 31-21 last weekend, having looked the better outfit in the opening half.

They had built up a 14-3 lead thanks to two converted tries, their backline was outclassing Clonmel. However the Munster outfit upped their physicality and took charge of the second half, scoring two tries.

Connemara, however, retook the lead 21-17 with a third try with 29 minutes to go, but Clonmel managed to drive over for a third try to edge in front, before finishing off with a fourth.
