Through the keyhole — Burkeway Homes to host event for first time buyers

In an effort to educate and inspire first-time buyers gearing up to take those initial, apprehensive steps onto the property ladder, and to demystify the buying process, Burkeway Homes will host a free Smarter Buyer event on Saturday April 6 at the Hotel Meyrick in Galway.

This free Smarter Buyer event, which begins at 9.30am, will feature a selection of talks and expert-led panel discussions, offering those in attendance a valuable insight into the step-by-step process of finding, purchasing, and personalising their first home. It is the first time that an event of this kind will be held in the west of Ireland, so it seems only fitting that Burkeway Homes, with a reputation for sharing decades of experience with those on the hunt for their dream house, is the driving force behind this venture.

Architect Hugh Wallace, one of the well-known judges on RTÉ’s hugely popular show Home of the Year, will open the event and act as MC throughout, welcoming guests and shedding light on the many topics that will be explored over the morning and afternoon. Special guest speakers include Tony Kavanagh, Sherry Fitzgerald; Susan McGowan, interior designer at Ashen & Cloud; and building surveyor Fergal Bradley. These high-profile speakers join a robust team of professionals who will be on hand on the day to share a wealth of invaluable information with attendees of the event. Representatives from Ulster Bank, Blake & Kenny solicitors, and of course, Burkeway Homes, will also take to the stage to engage with the audience, sharing advice and top tips.

With a multitude of both predicted and unexpected obstacles and expenses to navigate when investing your hard-earned savings in a new or previously owned house, the Burkeway Homes event will provide crucial guidance while also serving as a sounding board for first-time buyers, taking guests through each step of the process from the legalities of agreeing on a sale and the extra ‘hidden’ costs that come with it, to decorating the finished product and transforming it from a house into a home. Ticket holders will also have an opportunity to browse the wide array of stands that will be on display on the day in the exclusive exhibition space, which will feature representatives from further industry related vendors such as Tubs & Tiles, Nightguard, the Carpet & Rug Centre, Galway Curtain and Blind Centre, and Peter Murphy Lighting & Electrical, who will showcase their products and services on the day.

Michael Burke, managing director of Burkeway Homes, said: “We’re extremely excited to bring this event to life after months of planning and preparation. Burkeway Homes has always been committed to building communities and we feel that, as part of this commitment, it is our duty to share our knowledge and expertise in order to take the stress out of what should be a hugely positive, momentous event for homebuyers.”

The Burkeway Homes Smarter Buyer Event will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday April 6, with a break for refreshments at 11am. With such an impressive agenda on offer during this free event, advance registration is highly recommended, as spaces are already filling up quickly.
