Jazz, trad, and classical on a Saturday

Including a musical commentary on Brexit...

A JAZZ commentary on Brexit, TG4’s young Musician Of The Year for 2019, and the ConTempo Quartet will be in The Mick Lally Theatre, Druid Lane, for the upcoming 3 Saturdays: 3 Kinds of Music concert.

The Commons, an eight-piece jazz ensemble led by saxophonist Nick Roth, will perform a "musical commentary on Brexit". Roth will be joined by leading Irish jazz musicians Matthew Berrill (saxophones ), Maria Lamburn (bass clarinet ), Neil Yates (trumpet ), Kieran Mcleod (trombone ), Huw Warren (piano ), Dave Redmond (double bass ), and Zoot Warren (drums ).

There will also be trad from TG4 Young Musician Of The Year 2019, Conor Connolly (accordion ), joined by Andrea Palandri (fiddle ), while the ConTempo Quartet and Matthew Berrill will perform Nick Roth’s quintet for bass clarinet and string quartet.

The concert is on this Saturday at 11am and is curated by musician Matthew Berrill. This is an all ages show. Admission is free but early arrival is recommended. Donations are welcome. See www.thegalwaymusicresidency.ie
