Curtains open tonight on Claregalway Drama Festival

It’s that time of year again when Claregalway Community Centre is transformed into a magical theatre for the annual Claregalway Drama Festival. This year the festival runs from tonight March 14 to March 22 inclusive. Nine nights of fantastic theatre for theatre goers and drama enthusiasts with a range of genres being performed, from much loved audience classics to festival premieres.

This year the man tasked with judging these fine performances is Brendan Murray, who adjudicates Claregalway Drama Festival for a second time. Each night he will critique the group’s production before giving his final adjudication, and announcing the winners on closing night. Each group performs for the honour of winning a place in the All Ireland Finals held in Athlone and Doonbeg, Co Clare.

A fantastic night’s entertainment is promised for audiences with refreshments available both during the interval and after the performance, a nightly raffle with excellent prizes as well as a draw to win three month’s membership to Core Fitness in the Claregalway Hotel. The festival also hosts a bar where audience members can enjoy a drink and a chat about the night’s play.

Tickets are priced at €10 each or €60 for a season ticket which covers all nine nights of the Festival. Tickets are available at the door but booking is advised on 0851155268.
